Seismic Behavior of Concrete Columns Confined with Steel and Fiber-Reinforced PolymersResults from an experimental program are presented in which 12356 mm diameter and 1473 mm long columns were tested underconstant axial load and reversed cyclic lateral load that simulatedforces from an earthquake. Each specimen consisted of a columncast integrally with a 510 x 760 x 810 mm stub that represented abeam-column joint area or a footing. The test specimens weredivided into three groups. The first group consisted of four columnsthat were conventionally reinforced with longitudinal and spiralsteel reinforcement. Thecolumn consists of an outer tube made of fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) and an inner tube made of steel, with the space between filledwith concrete.
